Be part of something that really matters.
Camberwell Basketball is shining a light on an important issue that affects so many families in our community, and you're invited to join us for two very special events as part of our inaugural Mental Health Awareness Week (April 26-May 2).
This free event includes:
– An interactive workshop on self-talk delivered by James Farrough, Provisional Psychologist at Glynn Mind Clinic. This session will offer something to coaches and players of all levels and parents alike, as it explores how internal dialogue influences performance and wellbeing, and how positive self-talk can be used to bring out the best in individuals and teams.
– A presentation from a well-known and highly respected member of the Camberwell Basketball and Dragons community who will share the story of his own personal mental health journey and highlight the importance of speaking up, seeking support when it's needed, and developing the mind alongside the body.
Registration for this session must close on Sunday, April 26. For more details and / or to register for this session, click HERE. For more information, contact Camberwell Basketball Communications, Community Engagement and Partnerships Manager Andrew Johnstone at [email protected]
This free event includes:
– Guest Speaker Andrew Parkinson. Andrew is a two-time National Basketball League champion and years after his retirement is still recognised as one of the most lethal three-point shooters in league history. Andrew will reflect on the highs and lows of his decorated career, his battle with cancer and the importance of connection, resilience and community.
– Guest Speaker Bobby Bajram. Bobby is a world-class extreme athlete who has lived with multiple sclerosis for more than 40 years. Diagnosed when he was just 13 years old, he has gone on to scale some of the world's highest mountains and is now training to climb Mount Everest in 2027. His presentation will explore purpose, resilience, positivity through adversity and his mission to "walk to the top of the world and see the blue sky".
Registration for this session must close on Monday, April 27. For more details and / or to register for this session, click HERE. For more information, contact Camberwell Basketball Communications, Community Engagement and Partnerships Manager Andrew Johnstone at [email protected]
