APRIL 2024 SCHOOL HOLIDAY CAMP SCHEDULE

Camberwell Basketball offers a wide range of camps for various age groups and abilities, including domestic and representative-level players, during school holiday breaks. To register for one or more of our April 2024 school holiday camps listed below, please click HERE.

Our April program in detail:

April 2 – Domestic Development Camp
Head Coach: Fraser Kennedy

–  Fraser Kennedy is head coach of Camberwell Dragons Big V Youth League Men’s team and the Dragons 18.1 Boys

–  One-day camp for all junior domestic players born 2010 to 2016

–  Fun and positive environment

–  Camp will educate and assist development in shooting, ball-handling, defensive and passing technique, and feature game-like situation drills

–  Games will be played, allowing coaches to provide feedback and tips to players on areas for improvement

April 4 – Under 12 Representative Half-Day Development Camp
Head Coach: Michael Dimattina

–  Michael Dimattina is Camberwell Dragons Girls Director of Coaching, former head coach of the Dragons
Big V Women’s team (2022 and 2023) and has built a wealth of knowledge during a great playing and coaching career

–  Half-day camp for all representative players born 2013 to 2015 playing in the VJBL

–  Will cover the most important fundamentals of the game in a competitive environment and provide individual players with teachings required for them to improve their game

–  Features drills to develop ball handling, passing, offence, defence, shooting, rebounding and overall team play

–  Teaching points covered in drills will be practised and executed in game situations

April 4 – Under 14 Representative Half-Day Development Camp

– With a focus on individual skill development, camp will cover the important fundaments of the game in a competitive and expected high-intensity environment

– Teaching points covered in drills will be practised and executed in game situations

April 8 – Domestic Shooting and Defence Camp
Head Coach: Matt Power

– Matt Power coaches Camberwell Dragons 14.1 Girls Victorian Championship (VC) team and is head coach of Camberwell Basketball’s Aussie Hoops program. He’s coached at a number of levels in the Camberwell program and regularly coaches at these camps. Matt developed as a player in the Dragons system, represented Victoria in 2021 and plays for Camberwell’s Big V Championship Men’s team

– Full day camp for domestic players born from 2010 to 2016

– All things shooting will be covered, including precise feet positioning, bending of knees, fingers and hand placement on the ball, follow-through, shooting the ball off the pass and off the dribble

– Defence will also be a major focus, with correct footwork and hand-positioning, on-ball, denial and more than one-pass-away defence taught and drilled

April 9 – Under 12 Representative Full-Day Development Camp
Head Coach: Jaden Lai

– Jaden Lai was Camberwell Dragons Boys Program coach of the year in 2022 and is head coach of the 12.1 Boys and Under 12 age group head coach. A current member of the Dragons’ Big V Youth League Men’s team, he had coached in the Pre-Dragons Academy and Dragons Development Squad for many years

– Full day camp for all representative basketball players born from 2013 to 2015 and playing in the VJBL

– Will cover important fundamentals of the game in a competitive environment and provide players with teachings required for them to improve their game

– Features drills to develop ball handling, passing, offence, defensive, shooting, rebounding and overall team play

– Teaching points covered in drills will be practised and executed in game situations

April 10 – Domestic Shooting and Individual Offence Camp
Head Coach: Liam O’Hoy

– Liam O’Hoy coaches in Camberwell Dragons Under 16 Boys program, is a member of the club’s Youth League squad and an experienced camp coach and junior domestic coach. He is also CDBA’s Basketball Development Co ordinator, conducts school clinics and is head coach of the association’s Elevate program

– All things shooting will be covered, including precise feet positioning, bending of knees, fingers and hand placement on the ball, follow-through, shooting the ball off the pass and off the dribble

– Individual offence will also be a major focus, with preparing to receive the ball to the players’ advantage, various fakes, precise footwork and finishing taught and drilled

April 11 – Domestic Development Camp
Head Coach: Ben Crowe

– Ben Crowe is Camberwell Basketball’s Community Development officer and regularly conducts clinics for schools and basketball clubs in the local area. He also plays for Camberwell Dragons Big V Championship Men’s team

– Full day camp for domestic players born from 2010 to 2016

– Camp will cover correct shooting, ball-handling, defensive and passing technique

– Drills will be executed in game-like situations and games will be played, enabling coaches to provide feedback to individual players

– Designed to help players improve their all-round game in a fun environment

April 12 – Under 14 Representative Development Camp
Head Coach: Conor Mathews

– Conor Mathews is head coach of Camberwell Dragons Under 14 Boys program and the club’s coach of the year in 2021. He’s an exceptionally good young coach who relates well with the players he works with and persists at helping them develop their game. He is also assistant coach of the Dragons Youth League Men’s team

– This full day camp is for Under 14 representative girls and boys born from 2011 to 2012

– With an emphasis on individual skill development, this high-intensity camp will provide participants with what they need to know to advance their game

– Teaching points covered in drill format will be practised and executed in various game situations
