Become a Referee
The officials play an integral role in any basketball game, ensuring it is played fairly, safely and within the rules. Many of our officials take on various roles within the association, with some being players and coaches at Camberwell Dragons.
It is always a proud moment to see a junior player become a coach, or take on the challenge of learning more about the game as an official. We are all participants in the sport we love – basketball – and members of a great association. At Camberwell, we have established a Technical Officials Commission (TOC). This group:
- Represents the interest of all officials –referees, referee coaches, scoretable and statisticians;
- Sets objectives, defines policy, develops strategic direction and makes decisions in relation to the officials;
- Maintains good governance and introduces ethical standards into daily activities;
- Monitors the performance of management and volunteer team.
The current TOC strongly represents the EDJBA competition. With the recent growth of Camberwell Basketball Association, we will review the TOC structure to ensure best practice and fair representation across all Camberwell Basketball competitions.
