Matt Marcun led the way with a team-high 18 points and former Dragons junior Tyson Mackenzie (pictured) added 16 points and two steals as our Big V Youth League Men went the distance with league leader Sunbury again at Boardman Stadium on Saturday night.
The Jets held on for 76-74 win – their second against Camberwell this season – but not before the Dragons gave their host everything they could handle after trailing by eight points at the half.
Billy Barton closed with 14 points, eight rebounds and four steals and Jesse Macleod had eight points and 10 boards for Camberwell, which slipped to 10-4 and is in third place behind Sunbury (13-1) and Coburg (12-4).
Also at the weekend:
– Another former Dragons junior, Jaden Lai, finished with a team-high 18 points and five rebounds in just under 19 minutes for our Championship Men, who lost on the road against RMIT University. Riley Simmons added a 12-point, 14-rebound double-double for the Dragons, who fell behind by 10 at quarter-time and never recovered en route to a 91-75 loss.
– Katie Harrington had a team-high 16 points and four steals on debut for our Division 1 Women in a 77-65 loss to Whittlesea at Mill Park on Saturday night. Sian Gillam added 13 points and six rebounds and Anna Burrows pulled in eight boards to go with 10 points for the Dragons.
– And Ruby Clark showed the way with 11 points, five rebounds and two steals as our Youth League Women shook off Whittlesea for a 58-42 road win at Mill Park on Saturday night. Jessica Del Brocco added nine points, nine boards, seven assists and eight steals for Camberwell, which improved to 7-9.
