Your 2025-26 Camberwell Dragons VJBL Award Winners: Under 14 Boys.

14.1 Boys

Coach's Award – Samuel Little
"Sam was our most impactful player this season, showing composure with ball in hand, high-level shot-making and an ability to generate steals out of seemingly nowhere. More than that, he was a leader for the group and always put in his best effort at training and on game day to elevate his own play and that of his teammates."

Most Improved Player – Osbert Yan
"While he entered the season as our tallest player, Osbert was forced to work for every single rebound, shot and block against some of the best bigs in Victoria and interstate. This allowed him to continually improve his game, from defensive execution to shot-making and offensive footwork. Osbert’s desire to get better could not be questioned by anyone who spent time with him throughout the season."

14.2 Boys

Most Valuable Player – Octavio Chan
"'Octo' has been immensely important to our team this season, through his ability to control play,
create open shots for himself and teammates, and disrupt opponents as a point-of-attack defender. He has shown excellent effort and commitment at training, always asking questions and seeking feedback."

Coach's Award – Bhuvan Sri Veer Akula
"Bhuvan has been a consistent high performer in our team, contributing heavily at both ends of the floor. He has constantly put pressure on defences as a versatile three-level scorer. He has rarely been phased and consistently shown up for our team with a ‘next play’ mentality."

– Comments by Coach Danny Martin

14.3 Boys

Golden Hands Award – Orlando Zhang
"Orlando receives this statistical honour after displaying elite ball-handling, playmaking and defensive efficiency across the season."

Most Improved Player – Aston Marshall-Chung
"Aston receives this award in recognition of his tremendous work ethic, skill development and overall progress over the course of the season."

– Comments by Coach Liam Santamaria

14.4 Boys

Leadership Award – Angus Pawsey
"Angus leads by example every time he steps on the court. His positive attitude, selflessness and ability to encourage those around him have made him a respected leader among his teammates. A truly deserving recipient of this award."

Most Improved – Caiden On
"Caiden’s relentless work ethic and commitment to improving every single session have set the standard for others to follow. His determination, consistency and willingness to embrace every challenge make him a deserving recipient of the Most Improved Player."

– Comments by Coach Larry Chen

14.5 Boys

Most Valuable Player – Benjamin Perovic
"Ben led the team in points, rebounds, steals, blocks and hustle plays. He plays with sheer power and put us on his back so many times this season to get us across the line. Thanks for such a dominant season, Ben!"

Defensive Player of the Year – Jake Lin
"Jake was asked every week to guard the opposing team's best player and did a great job of locking them up. His speed and intensity on defence sets the tone for the rest of the team. He is super versatile with an incredible ability to guard 1-5. I'm sure grateful he's on our team."

– Comments by Coach Nem Devic

14.6 Boys

Most Valuable Player – James Mansfield
"James has been the player the team can always rely on when the pressure is on.
Consistently delivering in tight situations, he brings a calm, level-headed approach that helps steady and inspire those around him. His commitment, positive attitude and selfless team-first mentality have made him an invaluable contributor throughout the season. A true leader by example, James is a deserving recipient of this year's MVP Award."

Most Improved – Victor Zhou
"Victor joined the team as an import player who primarily played the five position. At the start of the season, I challenged Victor to step outside his comfort zone and spend more time playing on the wing as a three. His immediate response was, "I can't dribble!" From that moment, Victor embraced the challenge and committed himself to improving. Throughout the season, his ball handling, speed and agility improved tremendously. He worked hard to develop new skills and expand his game beyond the paint. Today, I am proud to say that Victor has become one of the most versatile players on our team. His willingness to learn, adapt and push himself has been outstanding, and his growth this season has been remarkable. Victor should be extremely proud of the progress he has made and the player he has become."

– Comments by Coach Belinda Oakley

14.7 Boys

Most Valuable Player – Callum McGrath
"Callum has been the engine of our team all season. He led us in scoring in most games and
dominated the glass at both ends, finishing plenty of possessions with second-chance put-backs. His rim protection gave the whole team the confidence to pressure the ball, knowing he was behind them. A genuine two-way presence and a thoroughly deserving MVP."

Coach's Award – Samuel Brett
"Sam has been the most reliable player in our squad this season. He turned up to every single
game and gave the same effort every time — hard-working, dedicated and never one to complain. He contributes at both ends of the floor, and as a coach you always know exactly what you're getting when you send him on. That consistency and attitude is exactly what the Coach's Award is for."

– Comments by Coach Sam Song

"Costa has worked hard every week to improve both the defensive and offensive aspects of his
game. Costa has demonstrated on many occasions his ability to be able to protect the rim and attack the basket. I look forward to seeing Costa continue to improve his game next season."

Coach's Award – Jason Bai
"Jason always demonstrates a willingness to improve as a role player for the team and
develop his game. He responds well to feedback and never requires reminding on what is expected of him. When the team has been in pressure situations, Jason’s cool and calm attitude led to better decision making and he is a worthy recipient of the Coach's Award."
