Camberwell Basketball and the Dragons are pleased to welcome Real Mandarin as a new partner to our program, bringing together two organisations committed to helping children learn, develop and thrive.
Based in Camberwell, Real Mandarin provides Mandarin and English education programs for children and families, supporting young learners from their earliest years through to senior secondary studies.
The connection between basketball and education is a natural one. Both encourage discipline, curiosity, resilience and a willingness to learn, while helping young people develop skills that extend well beyond the classroom and the court.
Real Mandarin has strong connections with the Dragons community, with family members involved in the club and many of its students active in basketball training and competition.
“There’s a strong connection between what children learn through sport and what they develop through education,” Camberwell Basketball Communications, Community Engagement and Partnerships Manager Andrew Johnstone said.
“Basketball teaches teamwork, resilience and the importance of practice, while learning a language challenges young minds, builds confidence and opens up new opportunities.
“Real Mandarin is already part of our Dragons family and we’re delighted to welcome the school as a partner. It’s a great fit for our community, and we’re pleased to be able to deliver an added benefit for Dragons families.”
As part of the partnership, Camberwell Dragons families will receive 20 per cent off their first term's fees at Real Mandarin School. Families will also have the opportunity to explore its programs at the school's annual Open Day on December 12, when free trial classes will be available across all programs.

Real Mandarin School helps children build confidence, develop new skills and discover the joy of learning through Mandarin and English programs designed for every stage of their journey.
From the Junior Mandarin Program for little ones aged 0–5 to Mandarin classes that progress from everyday conversation through to VCE and IB Chinese, Real Mandarin supports students to develop their language skills and reach their potential. English classes also help children strengthen their reading and writing while building the confidence they need to thrive at school.
At Real Mandarin, a simple theme underpins its approach: exercise the body and exercise the brain. Just as basketball helps children develop physical skills, teamwork and resilience, learning a language challenges young minds, encourages curiosity and opens doors to new cultures and opportunities.
That connection makes the school's partnership with Camberwell Basketball particularly special. As a Dragons family, Real Mandarin has a close connection with the club, with a family member playing for the Dragons and many of the school’s students participating in basketball training and competition.
The school is proud to support a club that shares its commitment to helping children grow on and off the court.
With deliberately small classes, every child is known, heard and encouraged, creating a welcoming environment where students can learn at their own pace and build confidence along the way.
