Sophie Jones led all scorers with 19 points and Nelly Tragardh added 13 as the Dragons improved to 5-1 in Big V Youth League Women's play with a 95-59 home win against Western Port at Boroondara Sports Complex on Saturday night.
Jones (pictured) added eight rebounds and two steals in just over 22 minutes for Camberwell, which outscored the Steelers 57-28 across the second and third quarters to lay the foundation for its biggest win of the season.
Six Dragons scored nine points or more, including Zoe Johnson, who posted a 10-point, 10-rebound double-double in just over 17 minutes.
In other Dragons Big V action on Saturday night:
Division 1 Women: Altona had too much at home for the Dragons. Eleni Valos with a team-high 15 points, six rebounds and four steals for Camberwell in a 73-40 loss.
Championship Men: The Dragons rallied late on the road but couldn't catch Pakenham at Cardinia Life. The Warriors holding on for a 79-76 win. Mike Reeves had a season-high 27 points, 15 rebounds and three assists to lead Camberwell. Captain Naoum Lazis also had a double-double, finishing with 13 points and 10 boards.
Big V Dragons today (Sunday):
Division 1 Women: Camberwell is on the road again for the second time this weekend. It will tip things off at Collingwood at 3pm.
Youth League Men: The league-leading Dragons will be chasing their fourth straight win when they go head to head with Pakenham on the road at 2pm.
