Eleni Valos and Anna Burrows both posted double-doubles as our Division 1 Women fired in the second half to turn back visiting Mildura at Boroondara Sports Complex on Saturday night.
Valos (pictured) signed off with a team-high 16 points and 12 rebounds and Burrows finished with 13 points. 12 boards, five assists and two steals to lead Camberwell, which pulled away for a 64-56 win after trailing by nine at the half.
Captain Gemma Fyffe added 13 points and four assists for the the Dragons, who outscored the Heat 37-20 in the second half and held the visitors to just nine points in the final quarter.
Camberwell improved to 2-2 and will now shift its focus to next week's road double against Altona and Collingwood.
CHAMPIONSHIP MEN
While our D1 Women did their best work after half-time last night, visiting RMIT had too much for our Championship Men over the last 20 minutes in the second game of the double header at BSC.
Camberwell led 43-42 at the half before RMIT seized control of the contest with 33-17 third quarter and never looked back on its way to a 92-80 win.
RMIT's Darnell Hoskins had 26 points to lead all scorers, while there was plenty to like about our Dragons, too.
Trent Andre paced Camberwell with a team-high 19 points, eight rebounds and four assists and American big man Mike Reeves, playing just his second Big V game for the club, put together an impressive performance on his way to a 15-point, 18-rebound double-double in just under 23 minutes.
Ben Crowe added 16 points and Naoum Lazis had 11 points and nine boards for the Dragons, who had five double-digit scorers.
RMIT improved to 2-0 and entered Sunday in second place behind Hume City, while our Dragons are 0-2. Next up for Camberwell is a road double against Pakenham (April 12) and Wyndham (April 13).
