Your Youth League Men are moving on in the Big V Finals after holding off Bulleen in their playoff opener at Balwyn High School today.
Billy Barton led the way with an 18-point, 17-rebound double-double as the Dragons steadied late to beat the Boomers 78-69 and book their place in the semi-finals.
Jesse Macleod added 18 points and four boards and Matt Marcun finished with 13 points, three assists and two steals for Camberwell, which pulled away after Bulleen took a one-point lead in the final quarter.
Also today, your Championship Men's team kept its finals hopes alive with a 95-81 road win against Sunbury at Boardman Stadium.
Jackson Meshanic had a game-high 28 points, 17 rebounds and three assists to pace the Dragons, Brennen Burns added 18 points, four boards and seven assists and Daniel Powell finished with 17 points for Camberwell, which improved to 9-9 and closed a round in a three-way race for fifth place with Pakenham (9-9) and Warrandyte (9-9).
It was the second win of the weekend for the Dragons, who routed Wyndham, 113-91, at Boroondara Sports Complex on Saturday night. They'll host RMIT University at BSC next Saturday (August 1, 7pm) before closing their regular season against Gippsland United at BSC on August 8.
In the early game at BSC on Saturday night, your Division 1 Women held off Collingwood, 78-73, to secure a finals berth. Anna Burrows (11 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, four blocks) and Eleni Valos (10 points, 11 boards) had double-doubles for Camberwell, which set up its win with a 50-37 first half.
The fifth-placed Dragons (7-10) will close their regular season commitments against visiting Wyndham at Balwyn High School next Sunday (12pm) before opening their finals campaign the following week.
