Sean Conway (pictured), Jesse Macleod, Zoe Johnson and Meg Stagoll are our Big V Players of the Week. Our Players of the Week are proudly supported by The Terminus.
Conway delivered another stunning performance for our Championship Men's team at the weekend on the way to landing another Dragons Big V Player of the Week award.
Conway erupted for 34 points (6-of-10 from the three-point line), 10 rebounds and five steals to lead the Dragons to a 97-79 win against visiting Pakenham in their Big V Champ Men clash at Boroondara Sports Complex on Saturday night.
It was another excellent night at the office for Conway, who has quickly emerged as one of the most dynamic and productive forces in the competition. He entered this week averaging a Champ Division-best 30.5 points and 11.8 rebounds in his eight outings for the Dragons and as the league's reigning Player of the Month after being honoured for his work in May.
Saturday night's win was a huge result, too, for Camberwell, which improved to 5-9 and remains within striking distance of the top five with eight games left to play in the regular season. Hume City (12-2) leads the division from Keysborough (12-20), McKinnon (10-4), RMIT (9-5) and Shepparton (8-7). Sixth-placed Pakenham, with its loss to the Dragons on Saturday night, dropped to 8-7.
Coming up this week for Camberwell is a Saturday night road date with Melbourne University at Nona Lee Sports Centre (8pm).
– Jesse Macleod picked up Player of the Week honours for our Youth League Men after closing with 25 points, eight rebounds and five steals in the Dragons' 82-79 overtime loss on the road at Sunbury. The Dragons are fifth with a 9-7 record.
– Zoe Johnson submitted a 12-point, 18-rebound double-double for our Youth League Women, who went the distance with unbeaten Knox before falling to the Raiders at the State Basketball Centre on Saturday night. Camberwell dropped to 12-4 and closed the round in third place behind Knox (18-0) and Eltham (13-4).
– And Meg Stagoll had 11 points, six rebounds, six assists and five steals as our Division 1 Women fell on the road against Whittlesea. The Dragons are fifth with a 6-7 record.
