YLW ready to take show on the road

These are good times for Camberwell’s Youth League Women.

The third-placed Dragons are off to a 5-2 start in Big V play this season and will be out to make the fun times last over the league’s Anzac Round this weekend.

They’ll open Saturday night’s Dragons double-header at Broadmeadows Stadium with a 6pm date against Hume City – with that one to be followed by our Youth League Men’s 8pm clash against the Broncos.

In other Dragons Big V action this weekend, our Championship Men travel to Somerville on Saturday to go at it with Western Port Steelers (6pm), and our Championship Women face a testing match-up with league leader Bulleen at East Doncaster Secondary College on Sunday. That one tips off at 1pm.

To stay on top of what all four of our Camberwell Big V teams are up to over Anzac Round, follow the Dragons on Instagram and Facebook.

Tournament FAQs

3X CUP REGIONAL QUALIFIER | APRIL 13, 2024
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS CAMBERWELL BASKETBALL’S 3X CUP REGIONAL QUALIFIER?
The 3X Cup Regional Qualifier is a 3-on-3 tournament at Boroondara Sports Complex on Saturday, April 13, offering competition for boys and girls in Under 11, 13, 15, 17 and 19 age groups. It is an official qualifying event for Basketball Victoria’s state-wide 3X Cup competition.

HOW MANY GAMES WILL A TEAM PLAY ON THE DAY?
Teams will play a minimum of four games.

DOES MY 3X CUP TEAM HAVE TO BE MADE UP OF PLAYERS FROM MY DOMESTIC AND/OR REPRESENTATIVE TEAM?
The good news is it doesn’t. Grab two or three of your mates, make sure you register your team in the correct age group, and you’re good to go.

IS 3-ON-3 BASKETBALL PLAYED ON A FULL COURT?
No, it’s not. 3-on-3 basketball in played on a half court with just one hoop.

HOW MANY PLAYERS CAN BE ON THE COURT AT ONE TIME?
3-on-3 permits only three teams to be on the court at a time. Each team is allowed one sub.

HOW LONG DOES A 3-ON-3 GAME LAST?
The clock is set to a running 12 minutes, but if a team reaches the target score of 21 the game is over, with that team declared the winner.

HOW DOES SCORING WORK IN 3-ON-3 BASKETBALL?
Shots taken and made from inside the three-point line count for just one point. Shots made from behind the three-line are worth two and a made free throw is worth one point.

IS THIS EVENT GOING TO BE A BIG DEAL?
With almost 90 teams registered and our tournament still nine days away (current at April 4), we’re excited about what’s ahead and what it will mean for basketball in the local area. We reckon you should be, too.

CAN SOMEONE WHO IS NOT REGISTERED WITH A DOMESTIC AND/OR REPRESENTATIVE BASKETBALL TEAM COMPETE AT THE 3X CUP QUALIFIER?
Yes, they can. As long as they register online through PlayHQ when setting up their team, they’re good to play ball.

WHAT TIME WILL MY TEAM PLAY, AND HOW LONG WILL I BE AT BSC ON THE DAY?
Exact timing and fixtures will not be known until registration for the event closes and our team numbers are known.

HOW DO I REGISTER MY TEAM?
We’re glad you asked. Scan the QR Code, click the link in Camberwell Dragons Instagram Bio, or go directly to https://www.playhq.com/basketball-victoria/register/f73674
