Dragons step out with Vics today

Exciting times for Camberwell Dragons today, with Sophie Richardson, from our 16.1 Girls, and Max Pavey (16.1 Boys) in action for Victoria at the prestigious East Coast Challenge tournament in Penrith, New South Wales.

Both players were named on Under 16 squads for the three-day event, which was originally set up by Basketball Victoria and Basketball New South Wales for metropolitan athletes in Under 16 and Under 18 age groups to compete in a round robin-style tournament in Sydney.

Competition begins at Penrith Valley Regional Sports Centre today and continues until Friday. We’ll have updates here and on our social media platforms throughout the week.

From all at Camberwell, best of luck to Max and Sophie as they step out with the Vics today.

The East Coast Challenge marks the beginning of a busy few weeks for Camberwell athletes, with nine Dragons selected to compete at next week’s Southern Cross Challenge (SCC) in Melbourne.

We’ll have more on that event later in the week.

Score a great deal with No Limits

We’re excited to share this special offer from our partner and great friends at No Limits Basketball.

For Dragons players only, they’re offering 50% off your first four weeks on a SNIPER 24/7 Shooting Membership if you sign up in January!

Becoming a great shooter takes two things – great technique and getting up reps – and their memberships give you the perfect opportunity to do just that.

The shooting machines rebound the ball for you (make or miss), so you can spend all of your time shooting rather than chasing after the ball

At No Limits’ facility The Lab (in Box Hill South) they’ve got 3 x The Gun shooting machines available on a 24/7 membership basis. Players that sign up get a swipe card so they can shoot any time as often as they want to.

It’s also very affordable – normally just $42 per week for unlimited shooting.

Minimum membership length is eight weeks.

To our Dragons family – thank you for supporting those who support us.

Quotes of the Week

It’s a brand new year. And to celebrate, we’re making a fast start to 2024 with quotes from two of the game’s most influential figures.

The first is from Diana Taurasi, a five-time Olympian with Team USA and arguably the greatest women’s basketball player of all time.

The second is from Michigan State University coach Tom Izzo, one of the most respected coaches of his era, and someone who’s never shied away from a tough conversation.

Happy New Year, Camberwell. Let’s make it one to remember.
