Camberwell Dragons congratulate our Big V Players of the Week – Mike Reeves, Anna Burrows, Ace Adama and Zoe Johnson, proudly supported by The Terminus.

– Reeves (pictured) collected his second Player of the Week award in as many rounds after putting up his third straight double-double (25 points and 13 rebounds) for our Champ Men in the Dragons’ home loss against Melbourne University on Sunday.

– Burrows went to work with a season-high 35 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals as our Division 1 Women held off Melbourne Uni at Balwyn on Sunday to improve to 4-3. That performance won her a place on the Big V’s All-Division 1 First Team.

– Adama had 11 points, four rebounds and two assists as our Youth League Men fell on the road at Bulleen.

– And Johnson had an 18-point, 12-rebound and four-steal double-double as our Youth League Women took care of business against Hume City at Broadmeadows.

Anna Burrows erupted for a season-high 35 points to lead our Big V Division 1 Women to a 71-65 win against visiting Melbourne University at Balwyn High School today.

Burrows (pictured) added four rebounds, three assists and three steals for the Dragons, who shook off a slow start to celebrate Zoe Scott’s 150th Big V game for Camberwell in style.

Eleni Valos had seven points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals for the Dragons, who improved to 4-3.

In the second game of today’s double header at Balwyn, Melbourne University pulled away in the second half for a 98-89 win against our Championship Men.

Mike Reeves posted his third straight double-double for the Dragons, finishing with 25 points and 13 rebounds. Trent Andre added 18 points, six rebounds and four assists, and Tori Odom also finished with 18 points.

Zoe Johnson and Sophie Jones posted double-doubles as our Youth League Women pulled away in the second half for an impressive road win against Hume City at Broadmeadows on Saturday night.

Johnson closed with 18 points, 12 rebounds and four steals and Jones (pictured) had 14 points and 14 boards for the Dragons, who outscored their host 49-24 over the final 20 minutes on their way to an 88-55 road win.

Captain Maddy Grossman added 17 points for Camberwell, which improved to 6-1.

In other Dragons Big V action on Saturday night, our Youth League Men couldn’t keep up with Bulleen on the road – the Boomers rolling to an 88-63 win. Ace Adama led Camberwell 11 points.

DRAGONS TODAY (Sunday, April 27)
Dragons favourite Zoe Scott will play her 150th Big V game for Camberwell when our Division 1 Women host Melbourne University at Balwyn High School this afternoon (12pm).

That game’s the first of a double header also featuring our Championship Men. Shawn King’s team is also hosting Melbourne Uni, with that one scheduled to tip off at 2pm. Tickets available at the door.

Zoe Scott will become only the fifth woman in Camberwell Dragons history to play 150 Big V games for our club when she hits the hardwood at Balwyn High School with our D1 Women’s team for Sunday’s date with Melbourne University.

It’s going to be a special afternoon for a Camberwell favourite and, fittingly, the former Balwyn Blazers and Dragons junior features on the cover of this week’s Big V Game day program, which is online now. To check it out, click or scan the QR Code on display at Balwyn High tomorrow.

To celebrate this special milestone with Zoe, be there at 12pm to see the Dragons, who entered last weekend’s Easter break with a 3-3 record, go at it with Melbourne Uni (1-3).

That one is the first of two games at Balwyn High on Sunday, with our Championship Men’s team also hosting Melbourne University from 2pm. American big man Mike Reeves has been in good touch for the Dragons and will be chasing a third straight double-double after putting up 27 points and 15 rebounds in Camberwell’s most recent outing – a 79-76 road loss at Pakenham.

In other Dragons action this weekend, our Youth League Women (5-1) play Hume City (4-2) on the road at Broadmeadows on Saturday night (7.30pm) and our Youth League Men (5-2) will also be at work away from home on Saturday. They’ll go head to head with Bulleen (4-1) at Bulleen Templestowe Basketball Stadium from 8pm.

Steve will cover a range of topics and answer your questions in this free and interactive 90-minute session, including, but not limited to:

•  Can anyone coach a rep basketball team?

•  What are the traits of a successful coach?

• How much time do you need to commit?

•  The importance of Communication – with players, parents and guardians.

•  How to prepare a training plan.

• The satisfaction that comes with coaching a representative-level team and playing such an important role in helping our young athletes become the best they can be – on and off the court.

•  The support network available to coaches at Camberwell Dragons.

Participants will be encouraged to ask questions throughout and Steve will be available after the session to answer any questions or address topics that may not have been covered during the presentation.
