Stronger together

Stronger together

Good times for members of our Big V Youth League Men’s team, who called in to show their support for our great friends at Plus Fitness Hawthorn East.

The guys, who have begun their preparation for next year’s Big V campaign, were in the house to meet the team and check out the facilities as part of the centre’s Open Day festivities.

Top of the Class

After sharing our passion for our great game with more than 350 students at Canterbury Girls’ Secondary College this year, Camberwell Basketball looks forward to continuing its partnership with the school in 2026.

Camberwell Basketball Communications, Community Engagement and Partnerships Manager Andrew Johnstone today thanked students, teachers, staff and families at Canterbury Girls’ for their wonderful support of our program, and for welcoming us into the CGSC community.

“Camberwell Basketball has loved building a relationship with students and staff at Canterbury Girls’ Secondary College this year, and greatly appreciates being made to feel a part of such a special community,” Johnstone said.

“Our Camberwell Dragons coaches were made to feel at home from day one and were genuinely impressed by the students’ respect, enthusiasm and engagement throughout the program. We hope the students who participated enjoyed it as much as we did.

“Camberwell Basketball truly values this partnership, and we’re excited to explore more on- and off-court opportunities with CGSC in 2026.”

Across the first year of our partnership with CGSC, Dragons coaches delivered a program of fun and engaging training sessions featuring drills, skill-building activities and game-based learning, with a focus on building confidence, communication, teamwork and promoting a love of the game.

“Canterbury Girls’ Secondary College are proud to celebrate our strong partnership with Camberwell District Basketball Association, whose coaches enriched our PE program throughout 2025 with energetic, skill-focused sessions across multiple year levels,” Senior VCE Physical Education and Health Teacher Alexandra Pavlidis said.

“More than 350 students benefited from high-quality coaching that built confidence, teamwork, and a love of basketball.

“We extend our sincere thanks to the Camberwell Dragons coaching staff and Andrew Johnstone for their professionalism and positive impact on our students. We look forward to continuing this partnership in 2026, including exciting work experience opportunities for next year’s Year 10 students.”

Camberwell Basketball extends its thanks to Dragons coaches Lisa Ong, Lucy Patel, Josh Kohlman and Michael Fowler for their outstanding on-court contributions and commitment to making this program an outstanding success.

Thank you, Dragons

The Camberwell Dragons community came out in force at Kew High School on Sunday to celebrate another huge year for our program.

Hundreds of young Dragons players and their families gathered for a jam-packed and fun-filled Family Day that included shooting competitions, skills clinics, an All-Star Game featuring players from the club’s Under 16 and Under 18 programs, and a spirited and entertaining hit-out between our Under 12s and players from our Big V program.

Thank you to the many players, coaches, volunteers, families and Partners – in particular, BNF Coaching, No Limits Basketball, Drive Smart Driver Academy, Plus Fitness Hawthorn East, Eastside Nutrition (all of whom were on site), and Bennet’s Butchery – who helped to make our special day possible.

More photos and updates to come.
